The holter monitor is a portable monitor used to record your heart’s activity over a 24-hour period. It can detect abnormal heartbeats and abnormal rhythms during your daily activities.
Why you are having this procedure (symptoms/indications):
Do not use any creams, lotions, powders or sprays in your chest area the day of your appointment.
What to expect:
To wear the monitor for 24 hours while doing your normal daily activities, to be able to press button when symptoms occur and keep a diary of your symptoms.
Risks:
There are no known risks associated with this test.
Post procedure instructions/limitations:
No bath or shower while wearing the monitor
When to call your cardiologist:
When any equipment malfunction is suspected
Miscellaneous:
Bring monitor back as soon as possible after 24 hours. Note: This is expensive medical equipment and should be kept dry. Loss of the equipment or damage to it could result in charges for repair or replacement.
