FROM: Dr. James B. Proctor, 2019 Tuscaloosa Heart Walk Chairman
It is my privilege to serve as the 2019 Heart Walk Chairman for the Tuscaloosa Heart Walk which will take place at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater on March 2, 2019. We have set a goal to raise $240,000 in support of the AHA mission of "building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke". To kick off the campaign Cardiology Consultants and our physicians have committed $10,000 corporately toward this goal and will work to raise another $10,000 through our Heart Walk Team efforts.
As medical professionals, we contribute to the health and wellbeing of our patients, employees, and community. The American Heart Association is working closely within our hospital and community to deliver educational services that translate into lives saved such as the Get with the Guidelines programs in which our hospital is currently working to receive this national certification.
I am asking you to join me and Cardiology Consultants in supporting the American Heart Association by committing your company to create a walk team, and/or making a significant donation to the AHA's mission. Information regarding sponsorship, personal support and Cor Vitae recognition options are enclosed.
Thank you in advance. Please let us know if we can assist you in anyway. We'll be happy to pick up your donation, if needed.
The staff of Cardiology Consultants filled 14 backpacks for children that are staying at our local women's center called "Turning Point". This center services women and their children that have been affected by domestic violence and sexual abuse. The center was founded in 1979 and serves Tuscaloosa and surrounding counties in Alabama.
Our team was excited to participate in a health fair at the Bryant Conference Center in May to represent Cardiology Consultants. This is a great event that has been hosted by The Area Agency on Aging of West Alabama every year since 1987.
Several of our staff and patients walked in the Heart Walk on a Saturday morning in March. Our staff and some of our patients donated a total of $700.00 to the American Heart Association. It was a beautiful day! According to the American Heart Association it was a record number of people who turned out to walk.
Thanks to our patients who came out to walk with us.
We will have a speaker regarding the basic knowledge of ICD therapy and take a look at the new remote monitoring devices. Question and answer session following. RSVP required.
We selected to donate to the Forest Lake Baptist Church "Wings of Grace" program. The staff here collected $355.00 to go to this program. The Wings of Grace program supplies groceries, clothing and encouragement to those individuals and families that are in need of help. During the large tornado that hit Tuscaloosa back in 2011 they were instrumental in helping students, families and individuals that had lost everything. Forest Lake Baptist Church is located in one of the most hardest hit zones of the tornado and they still had volunteers and supplies to help those in need. If you'd like to donate to this program they may drop off donations of non-perishable food, seasonal clothing, cleaning supplies, linens, toiletries and trash bags to the church at 107 18th Street, Tuscaloosa on Tuesday and Wednesday from 1pm-4:30pm.
Cardiology Consultants participated in the Tuscaloosa Tinsel Trail this year and had a great time crafting our tree! We were also the recipients of the "Talk of the Trail" award.
Our employees created a "Thankful Board" to celebrate the holiday. We wrote what we were most thankful for and posted them to the board. Our employees are very appreciative for what they have, especially their families.
In addition, our employees also donated $171.00 to the Salvation Army to feed the hungry and collected two large boxes of nonperishable food items to a local church food bank. We wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!
