The event recorder or King of Hearts is a portable monitor used to record your heart rhythm during your daily activities. It can detect abnormal heartbeats that are difficult to detect because they may occur infrequently.
Why you are having this procedure (symptoms/indications):
When it is difficult to detect abnormal heartbeat on a 24-hour holter monitor, abnormal heart beat, dizziness, passing out, fast heartbeat, irregular heartbeat, and/or palpitations.
Prep for the procedure:
Do not use any creams, lotions, powders or sprays on your chest area the day of your appointment.
What to expect:
To wear monitor while doing your normal daily activities and be able to press event button when symptoms occur

None
Post procedure instructions/limitations:
Take your monitor off to bathe or shower. NEVER discard the monitor portion or the leads.
Miscellaneous:
Bring your monitor back as soon as possible when your three to four weeks are complete. Note: This is expensive medical equipment and should be kept dry. Loss of the equipment or damage to it could result in charges for repair or replacement.
